Contents of the Final Tool ready |
The WP3 and the WP4 team worked out the new list and structure of the questions and cases of the Final Version of the Intercultool!
The proposal was discussed and accepted by the partnership.
The final version of the Intercultool will consist of 40 assessing questions in total: 17 case-type and 23 direct questions. Case-type questions are different from the direct questions, because they connect to a short situation. The situation describes an intercultural encounter, which was somehow difficult to handle for professionals from the target groups of our project. These situations were collected in a previous phase of our project so they are inspired by real life. Each situation is followed by different number of statements that refer to the given situation. Respondents of our tool will be asked to evalute these statments and decide how much they agree with them.
The direct questions are general statments that aim at picturing the attitudes of respondents towards manifestations of otherness in private and working life.
These 40 questions will be grouped into five categories. These categories are the following:
- Readiness to learn
- Need for comfort zones
- Accommodation to others
- Awareness of relativity
- Practice of relativity

Results of the Validation Research |
Researchers involved in the Intercultool Validation Research have came up with the results of the Intercultool Validation Research. The data collection phase of the Validation Research started in April and finished in June, 2009.
The researchers then analysed the data collected. The aim of the analysaton process was to see which qestions of the so-called "Beta Tool" work properly (assess what they meant to assess). In this "Beta Tool" we put 112 questions and cases with the intention of testing them. We wanted to select the best-working questions and cases.
Based on the findings of this research, the WP3 team is now working on the final list of the questions and cases. The WP3 team will come up with the proposed new list and structure of the questions and cases in two weeks.
You can find the English version ofsummary of the Validation Research in the "Results" part of our web page!

Intercultool "Beta" testing period finished |
The testing period of the Intercultool's Beta version finished on the 17th June, 2009.
The Intercultool Partnership managed to collect 867 finished (and 24 unfinished sheets with answers given to at least half of the questions) Intercultool tests by this time.
Even if the collected sample is somewhat smaller than it was planned originally, it can be established that the number of tests (almost 900) provides useful information with reference to all countries and sectors and is also suitable for finalising the test as well as for carrying out the research and the validation of the questionnaire.
The survey research team will be working on analysing the database collected during the research. We plan to publish the findings of our research by the beginning of September.
|
The opportunity of being involved into our project is now here!! You can take the Beta version of the Intercultool on-line at: www.intercultool.se
We will appreciate very much your requests for information and your feedback related to the test. We will be working to gather and combine the answers to the test and provide statistical results until the 29th May, 2009. |

Second transnational meeting in France |
|
The second transnational meeting of the partners, held between 1st-3rd September in Paris, represented the end of the activities planned for the research phase. Though the work involved during this phase was very demanding, it was also extremely interesting and fulfilling for the partners involved. Moreover, the interviews have generated very rich and valuable data, which has considerable transferable value for other projects and applications.
